Mr. Lawrence G. “Butch” Matheson, 70 of Somerville, died on Wednesday in Cambridge Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Medford, son of the late Lester A. and Helen G. (Qualey) Matheson he spent most of his life in Somerville. He attended local schools and is a graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1960. Mr. Matheson served in the U.S. Army and The Army National Guard. Butch was a retired Iron Worker and a proud member of Iron Workers Local #7. He is a member of the American Legion Post #388 in Somerville. He had the ability to make you laugh and was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor. He is the brother of John Matheson and his wife Adeline “Lee” Matheson of Woburn. Loving uncle of 2 nieces and 2 nephews. A funeral service will be held in the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Saturday at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 through 8 pm. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
