Robert E. "Bob" Burton Sr., a resident of Andover and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Windgate at Belvidere Nursing Home in Lowell after a lengthy illness. He was 81 years old.
Bob was born in Boston on December 17, 1930 to the late John and Elizabeth (Ring) Burton. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended the Boston Public School system. Bob worked for many years as a truck driver for H.P. Welch Company and was a member of Teamsters Union Local # 25. He was also a member of The Alert Club of Charlestown.
Bob is the devoted father of Kathy Riley and her husband Richard, Nancy Murphy, Robert E. Burton Jr. and his wife Patricia, Maureen Minichello, Michael Burton and Jim Burton. He is the dear friend of Miss Billie Buckley and her family. He is the former husband of Judy Burton. He is the loving Papa to 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of John "Joe" Burton, Louise Kelly and Phyllis Osterland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob's Funeral on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Visiting hours on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
