Mr. William D. “Bill” Sturtevant 85,of Wellfleet died Sunday April 1, 2012 at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Brewster. He was the wife of Bernice O. “Bunny” (Taylor) Sturtevant. Mr. Sturtevant was born March 17, 1927, in Swampscott, MA, the son of the late Albert W. and Susie W. (Foster) Sturtevant. He had lived in Provincetown before moving to Wellfleet in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 until 1954. He worked for many years as the building inspector in Wellfleet retiring in 1989. Besides his wife he is survived by his 2 sons, James W. Sturtevant of Talbot, TN and Thomas A. Sturtevant of North Eastham. He is also survived by two grandsons and one granddaughter and his sister Marjorie Skidmore of Danvers, MA. He is predeceased by his brothers Ronald, Jack and Richard and his sisters Barbara Corthrell and Ruth Ferguson.
A graveside service was held at the family plot in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wellfleet on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at 11:00am. Family and a few close friends were in attendance including members of the American Legion. Reverend Federico Carmona, Pastor of the Wellfleet United Methodist Church officiated.
