Robert J. Beckmann, 81, of South Dartmouth died unexpectedly March 30, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Jacqueline H. (Horan) Beckmann who grew up in Padanaram with many siblings. They retired to the village in 1993 after raising their family in Lake Forest, IL. He was formerly employed as a stock broker with Dean Witter for many years until his retirement. He was the son of the late Joseph C. and Agnes M. Beckmann of Chicago, IL.
Bob had many friends at the Mens Luncheon Club, Hawthorn Country Club, and at Anthony Beach, where he was a director for many years. He and Jackie were also active in the Republican Club. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert J. Beckmann, Jr. of Sarasota, FL; a daughter, Catherine M. Beckmann of Darien, CT; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3 at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Friends are encouraged to stop by the home afterwards. Visiting hours are omitted.
