FALL RIVER…Mary Theresa (Pontes) Perry, 90, of Fall River died Wednesday March 28, 2012 after a long illness. She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Antonio M and the late Mary S. (Mello) Pontes and had been a lifelong resident of this city. She was the spouse of the late Manuel F. Perry Jr.
She was employed as a stitcher at the former Fall River Knitting. She was a communicant of the Espirito Santo Church and was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, going to the movies, playing cards and games, spending time with her family. Mary’s favorite color was red so feel free to wear red to the services.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Mary M. Paradise and Christine Maroney both of Fall River, a Son: John A. Perry of Fall River, a Brother: James A. Pontes of Fall River, 3 Sisters: Irene A. Pontes, Beatrice A. Medeiros both of Fall River and Edna A. Souza of Florida, 5 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Patricia A. Perry and the sister of the late Elaine A. Pontes.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday at 8AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM at Espirito Santo Church, Alden Street, Fall River. Internment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 5 – 8 PM.
