Obituary

Galvin, Ann M. Melanphy – Murray- Galvin M. Ed of West Roxbury and Falmouth, MA. Beloved wife of Timothy F. Galvin for 30 years. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 28th. Beloved grandmother, granddaughter, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and educator. Ann was predeceased by her late husband Frederick A. Murray in 1963. Ann is survived by her beloved children Kevin T. Murray and his wife Elizabeth of McLean, VA, Michael J. Murray and his wife Suzy of West Roxbury and Pamela A. Murray – Dukeman and her husband Stephen of Westwood and her beloved grandchildren – Ryan Joseph Dukeman and Emily Ann Dukeman of Westwood, Matthew Cameron Murray of McLean, VA and Michael Leif Murray of West Roxbury. Ann is also survived by her husband’s family Lorraine Galvin-Foley of West Roxbury, Timothy Galvin and his wife Sue of Canton, CT, Elizabeth Galvin-O’Neil and her husband Timothy of Swarthmore, PA, Kathryn Galvin-O’Connor and her husband Kevin of Middletown, RI, their families and two great-grandchildren. Ann was predeceased by her parents John and Mary H. Melanphy and her two brothers John A. Jr. and Robert F. Melanphy. She is also survived by Robert’s four sons, Robert and his wife Michelle of San Francisco, CA, Mark of Fairhaven, MA, Sean, USMC, San Diego, CA and John of Fairhaven, MA. Ann held the degrees of Bachelor and Masters in Education from Boston State Teachers College (now University of Massachusetts Boston) and Certificates of Advanced Graduate Study from Boston University, Lesley College and Rhode Island College. She was retired from the Boston School Department after 30 years. Ann studied at the Boston Architectural Center and was a docent for Boston by Foot for many years. She was a retired member of the American Association of University Women. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury Monday, April 2 at 9:00am followed by a funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary Church Westwood at 10:00 am. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7pm. Relatives and friends invited. Private interment at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Clinic at Faulkner Hospital 1153 Centre St. Boston, Ma 02130 or the charity of your choice.
