Smith, Donald R. 65 of Rockland, passed away on March 27, surrounded by his loving family. Loving husband of Jayne (Walters) Smith. Dear father of Jennifer D. Last and her husband William F. Jr. of Marshfield and the late Gregory D. Smith. Grandfather of Mary Margaret Last. Son of the late Dr. J. Ellsworth Smith and Helen B. Rush. Brother of Dr. John E. Smith Jr. (Marie) of Weymouth, David A. Smith (Val) of Marshfield, Kenneth B. Smith (Karen) of Wareham and Nancy J. Stuart (Paul) of Plymouth. Stepfather of Paul (Maria) Flebotte, Jason (Diana) Flebotte and Ryan (Amber) Bowen. Former husband of Donna L. Smith. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Donald was born and raised in Weymouth, graduated from Weymouth High School and attended Quincy Junior College. He lived in Marshfield for 29 years before moving to Rockland in 2005. Donald was the Owner and Operator of D. Smith Associates, a successful independent business in Rockland. He was a US Air Force Veteran, Vietnam. Donald was responsible for getting the Social Host’s Law instated in Massachusetts. He was also an avid boater and golfer.
Visiting hours will be on Friday March 30, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the MacDonald Funeral Home 1755 Ocean St Rte 139 Marshfield. Funeral Service and Interment will be private.
