Helen A. (Desmarais) Shea, 88, of Worcester, died Wednesday, March 28th in Parsons Hill Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 49 years, Francis R. Shea, died in 2007. She leaves her son, Robert F. Shea and his wife, Kimberly J. of Charlton; her daughter, Mary M. Shea of Worcester; and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Charles and Robert Desmarais and two sisters, Ruth Martin and Alice Perreault predeceased her.
She was born in Nashua, NH, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Broderick) Desmarais and lived here for many years. Mrs. Shea worked for several years at the former W.T. Grant Co. She also worked at CVS for over 25 years retiring in 2001. Helen was a friendly face, adored by her co-workers and customers, who would wait in her checkout line just to be able to talk with her.
The funeral is Friday, March 30th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
