Obituary

Edward J. Boudreau, 79, died on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 after a lengthy illness. His entire family was with him when he passed away. He was born on February 16, 1925, the thirteenth and youngest child of Edmond and Josephine (Allard) Boudreau.

Edward attended St. Joseph and Laconia High School until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He worked for J.H. Valliere Plumbing and Heating and Scott & Williams until starting his own Plumbing and Heating business, which he operated for over thirty years. He was a life member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876 as well as the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1. He was a past president of La Societe St. Jean Baptiste de Laconia and a member of the Laconia Elders Club.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and was a champion pool player. He very much enjoyed volunteer work for the less fortunate of the Lakes Region. Before leaving to serve his country in 1943, Edward was credited with saving the life of a drowning 8-year-old girl at Opeechee Park and was awarded the prestigious Medal of Honor by the New Hampshire 40 and 8 Club. He was eighteen at the time.

Surviving family members include his wife of 55 years, Yvette (Dulac) Boudreau of Laconia; sons Michael and wife Patricia Boudreau of Gilford, Gerard Boudreau of Hollis George and his wife Janis Boudreau of Belmont; grandchildren, Thomas Dawson, Mathew Dawson, Timothy Boudreau, Kendra Boudreau, Katelyn Boudreau, Joshua Boyce and Christopher Boyce; great grandchildren, Zoe and Chance Dawson and Sierra Sky Dawson; a brother, Lionel and wife Mary Rose Boudreau of Laconia; several nieces and nephews.

His family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and genuine concern extended to Edward by the third floor staff at Golden View Health Care during his stay there. His sense of humor and kind spirit will be sorely missed.

Calling hours were in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Tuesday from 7-9 PM. The Elks held a Session of Sorrow at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave Wednesday at 10 AM. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
