SALEM- Catherine E. Briggs, 88, formerly of Salem, died Monday morning, April 12, 2004 at the Blueberry Hill Healthcare in Beverly, following a long illness.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Estelle J. (Stewart) Briggs.
Prior to her retirement in 1978, she was employed as a personal secretary at GTE Sylvania at the Endicott St., Danvers plant for 35 years.
A lifelong resident of Salem until moving to Peabody in the mid 1990's, she was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Salem.
Miss Briggs is survived by one nephew, John S. Jr. and his wife Linda Briggs of Manchester-By-the-Sea, their children and grandchildren and several cousins. She was the sister of the late John S. Briggs, Sr.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 pm in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. There are no visiting hours. Burial is in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
