Helene E. (Berard) Ducharme, 91, of The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville, RI, and formerly of Waterview Apartments, 300 Privilege ST, Woonsocket, RI, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Holiday Retirement Home surrounded by her loving family.
She was the devoted wife to her husband of 61 years, Joseph A. (Bob) Ducharme, who died on December 10, 2005.
Born in Manville on December 17, 1920, Helene was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Alma Berard. She was formerly employed at the French Worsted Company on Hamlet Ave. before retiring.
Helene was an active resident of Waterview Apts for 28 years and took pride in belonging to the Waterview Warblers which sang at most functions and parties.
Her favorite pastimes were visiting her daughter, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren in Virginia and vacationing in New England with her son, two grandchildren and her great grandchild. She truly enjoyed being in the company of her grandson and twin granddaughters.
Helene enjoyed playing cards, bingo and participating in all of the great activities offered at The Holiday. She was a pied piper who would lead other residents to activities and walks. She was a friend to all and loved everyone.
Helene was the mother of three children; Robert R. Ducharme and his wife, Jeannine of Woonsocket, Constance L. Berry and her husband Roger of Warrenton, VA, and the late Ronald A. Ducharme and wife Johanna (Annemarie) Ferrucci of Mendon MA.
She was very proud of her seven grandchildren; Cheryl, Steven, Michael, Christopher, Keith, Sarah and Rebecca. She adored her seven great grandchildren; Joseph, Amber, Jessica, Haley, Noah, Hannah and Hunter.
Helene was the sister of the late Bebeanne Berard, Ernest Berard, Ovila Berard, Lucien Berard, Germaine Yanski, Oscar Berard, Arsene Berard and Marie Charpentier.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Saturday, March 31 at 8:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket. Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. James Church, Manville. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, parents, and a brother in St. James Cemetery, Manville.
