Shirley Hester Peters, 53, of Tifton died Monday, March 26, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Bill Barksdale and Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate with burial to follow in Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenox. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 31, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Peters was born on March 2, 1959 in Plant City, Florida and was the daughter of S. A. “Bud” Hester and Vercie Howell Hester, both of Tifton. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. “Junior” Peters, who died on March 26, 2012; and one sister, Debra Kelley, who died on December 14, 2009.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peters is survived by one son, Jeremy Mansel Peters of Omega; one daughter, Kayla Peters of Tifton; two brothers, James Hester and Donald Hester, both of Tifton; seven sisters, Diane Goff of Sylvester, Patty Davis of Waynesboro, Mississippi and Cindy Thompson, Carolyn Kelly, Peggy Lindsey, Brenda Gershon and Shirelene Goodrich, all of Tifton; and three grandchildren, Chase Douglas, Austin Douglas and Angel Peters.
