Marvin R. Moxley, 69, of Cobbtown, Georgia died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services were held at 3 PM Saturday, March 24, at Cobbtown United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Sunlight Cemetery.
Mr. Moxley was born January 27, 1943 in Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Rufus and Alene Waters Moxley. A 1961 graduate of Collins High School, he received his B.S. in Business Education from Georgia Southern University. He taught Business Education in Woodbury and Fitzgerald. While at Fitzgerald High School, he served as Chair of the Business Department, taught Business Education, and was VOT Coordinator. Mr. Moxley was also sponsor of the Future Business Leaders of America. He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church where he served as Superintendent of Sunday School. After moving to Cobbtown, he taught middle school math until his retirement in 1997. After retirement, he taught at Georgia State Prison until this past February. He was an avid gardener and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Trafford Moxley of Cobbtown; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Cosby Clark of Woodstock, GA and Molly and Todd Bachelor of Gray, GA; grandchildren: Julianne, Sheridan, and Tessa Clark and Ethen and Trevor Batchelor; and many extended family.
