New Bedford – Antonio deFrias Sr., age 75 years, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital. He was the husband of Silvina (Correia) deFrias of New Bedford. Mr. deFrias was the loved father of Antonio deFrias and his wife Marcia of New Bedford, Maria E. Botelho of new Bedford and Maria Helen Noia and her fiance Joe Warren of Maine, grandfather of Steven, Melissa, and Jessica, brother of Jose deFrias of New Bedford, Liduina Sousa of Freetown, and Georgina daSilva of New Bedford and the late Ogania Ferreira, Maria da Conceicao Silva and Maria Silva. He is also survived several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. deFrias was a son of the late Maria (deEstrela) and Francisco deFrias. He was born in St. Michael Azores, Portugal and has lived in this area since November of 1968. He was employed as a Machine Operator at Chambelain Manufacturer. Antonio also served in the Army in Portugal.
Mr. deFrias’ funeral will be Thursday, at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening from 4-7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
