Obituary

SALEM - Rose M. (Dziadyk) Spatafore, 88, wife of the late Sam S. Spatafore, who passed away on Tuesday, March 20th, died Monday morning, March 26, 2012, with her family at her side. Rose and Sam were married for over 66 years.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Eva (Bik) Dziadyk.

Mrs. Spatafore was a Coast Guard veteran of WWII and attained the rating of Seaman, First Class

A resident of Salem and Peabody for most of her life, Rose was a communicant of the St. Thomas The Apostle Church. During a trip to Italy in 1980, Rose and Sam had a private audience and blessing with Pope John Paul II.

A Sultana of Lugo Caravan #113 and the Order of Alhambra, Rose was the first Region One Sultana President in New England.

Mrs. Spatafore was a volunteer at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Hospital for 20 years.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph S. and Clara M. Spatafore of Peabody, 3 grandsons, Steven J. Spatafore and Michael J. Spatafore, both of Peabody, Eric J. Spatafore of Clarksburg, WV, 3 nieces and their spouses, Dolly and Lawrence Grant, Gloria and Edward DeFranco, all of Peabody, Kathy Dionne of Salem, one nephew and his wife, Rick and Katherine Dziadyk of Springville, Utah, and two great nieces and their spouses, Lisa and Walter Reed and Gina and Peter Demoulias, all of Peabody. Rose was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Flo Dziadyk, and her niece’s husband, Robert Dionne.

Rose and Sam’s funeral services were held together on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 10 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am at the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem The visitation was Monday, from 4 to 8 pm.
