Obituary

WORCESTER-Robert G. “Muzzy” Belanger, Sr., 66 of 7 Abington Street died Wednesday, February 20th in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus after an illness. He leaves his wife of 42 years Teresa H. (Wiseman) Belanger; 2 sons, Robert G. Belanger, Jr. of Frederick, MD and Joseph Belanger of Worcester; 5 daughters Pat Nelson of Sandwich, MA, Penny Vincent of Orleans, MA, Nancy Belanger-Iott of Eaton Rapids, MI, Michelle Ortiz and Kathleen Williamson both of Worcester; 2 brothers Raymond Belanger of Worcester and Alfred J. Belanger of Cherry Valley; 2 sisters Theresa Bertrand of Oxford and Dolores Belanger of Cherry Valley; 15 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Worcester son of Alfred and Hilda (Miron) Belanger and lived here all his life. He attended Leicester High School and served in the Army. Mr. Belanger had been a truck driver for Atlas Distributors in Auburn for 20 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243 in Worcester. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Church serving as an Eucharistic Minister, Alter Server and was a Vincentian for St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was a good father who enjoyed fishing and walking on the beach.

The funeral will be Saturday, February 23rd from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. After cremation burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be Friday, February 22nd from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions made to either the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 507 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA 01610 or to the Our Lady of the Angels Mortgage Fund, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
