Linda K. Sheffield, 68, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, March 27 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Bro. Jack Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sheffield was born July 26, 1943, in Dodge County, Georgia to the late Morris Scarborough and the late Verna Burch Scarborough Tucker. She was a 1961 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and had lived in Bartow, Florida. She retired after 26 years of service to the Ben Hill County Board of Education and was a former employee of Complete Air. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church and a former treasurer and children’s Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Sheffield was a member of the Red Hat Society and former member of the Fitzgerald Jr. Women’s Club. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed attending family reunions, vacationing at the beach, and reading her Bible.
Survivors are her husband of 47 years, Max Sheffield of Fitzgerald; children: Josh & Kim Sheffield of Statesboro and Jill S. & Kevin Griffin of Douglas; grandchildren: Kelsey Griffin, Nicholas Griffin and Sara Beth Sheffield; two sisters: Laverne Martinez of Wetumpka, Alabama and Frances & Phillip Emfinger of Eclectic, Alabama; and a brother: David Scarborough of Fitzgerald.
