Djalma, Mauro Fernandes, Of Malden, MA died March 22, 2012. 48 years old. Beloved husband of Carolina Bastos Djalma. Loving father of Vinicius and Artur Djalma.
In 1996, Mauro Djalma came from Petrolois/RJ Brazil to Massachusetts and started to work as a cook in Cambridge for Pampas Restaurant, after 2 years he worked for Matt Murplhi's Restaurant in Brookline, where he created some recipes with signatures for the Boston Globe, and he last worked for the Irish Druid Restaurant in Cambridge for eight years, helping to build up the Restaurant with lots of enthusiasm, dedication, loyalty and a gift from God for genius in the kitchen, doing wonderful meals to feed people. Unfortunately in 2009 he was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of renal carcinoma which took his life with no mercy. Mauro fought so bravely and now he is at peace with no pain. The Druid family already misses his food and joy. The Djalma's family misses a brave and gentle man with lots of love. Our joy is to know that he is in such a good place resting in the Lord. Thank you for all our friends, patrons, and Druid staff. We love you Mauro! Carolina, Vinicius and Artur.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at 5:00 PM in The New Life Baptist Church, 320 Boston Ave., Medford, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
