Florence Lorraine (Corrigan) Steele, age 79, of Natick, died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, March 22, 2012, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was the beloved wife of 52 years of Reginald F. Steele.
Born in Tracadie Cross on Prince Edward Island, she was the last survivor of the ten children born to the late Charles and Annie (Smith) Corrigan. She was raised and educated on Prince Edward Island and came to the Boston area shortly after graduation. She married Reggie in 1959 and they settled in Brookline.
The Steele’s moved to Natick in 1970, and Florence set about creating a warm and loving home for her growing family. She loved to cook for and entertain her family and in recent years had a penchant for spoiling her grandson Robert with his favorite pancakes. Her grandchildren’s biggest fan, Florence enjoyed attending any of their events that she could. She was a lifelong hockey fan and loved to share stories of life in Canada with others.
Predeceased by her son Robert C. Steele in 2000, and granddaughter Sinead Lorraine Steele last year, she is survived by three sons, Reginald J. Steele and wife Susan of Shrewsbury, Joseph F. Steele of Natick, and Derek C. Steele and wife Linda of Framingham; six grandchildren, Victoria, Catherine, Leah, Robert, Logan, and Kailey Grace; her great-grandson, Aiden; “daughter” Bonnie Manning Hanson of Blackstone; daughter-in-law Jennifer Toomey of Shrewsbury; and many relatives and friends.
Her funeral will be from John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street (at Natick Common) Natick, on Tuesday, March 27th at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Patrick Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be Monday, 4 – 7p.m.
