Obituary

Joseph A. Sasso Sr. of Stoneham, formerly of Malden passed away on Saturday April 10, 2004 at Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. He was 86 years of age.

Born in Boston, Joseph was the son of the late John and Rose (Cocchiola) Sasso. Joseph was a dedicated laborer for the Local 22 for many years.

Joseph was a member of the North Middlesex Mixed Lodge # 2154. He was a member of The Holy Name Society at St. Patrick’s Church in Stoneham and the Retired Men’s Club of Wakefield. During World War II, Joe proudly served our country in the United States Army.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Grace (Fasciani) Sasso. He was the devoted father of Joseph A. Sasso Jr. of Illinois and Paula J. Sasso of Stoneham. Joseph was the cherished grandfather of Marisa and Joseph “Jay” Sasso III, both of Illinois. Joseph was the dear brother of Angelina Barbuto of Peabody, Michael Sasso of Wakefield, Anna Bravacos of Pennsylvania and the late Lawrence Sasso, George Sasso and John Sasso. Joseph was also the brother in law of Grace Sasso of New Jersey, Mary Sasso of Woburn, Jean Touchette of Vermont, Tina Fasciani of California, John Bravacos of Pennsylvania and Lawrence Barbuto of Peabody. Joe was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday 4-9pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
