Obituary

Aleksandra (Pacewich) Cashman, 93, a resident of the Blaire House in Tewksbury, MA. passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012.

The daughter of the late Grodno and Anastasia (Kostechko) Pacewich, Anastasia was
born July 29, 1918 in Lawrence, MA. She attended the Lawrence Public Schools and was a 1938 graduate of Lawrence High School. Aleksandra was a proud veteran of the United States Army. She served in the South Pacific during World War II as a mail clerk. Her campaigns included New Guinea and the liberation of the Philippines. For her service she received the Meritorious Unit Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippine Liberation Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, as well as the World War II Victory Medal. She was Honorably Discharged on November 28, 1945. Later in life, Aleksandra worked for the US Armed Forces office in Lawrence. She received a commendation for her dedicated service from the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She then went on to work at Raytheon Corporation in Andover from which she retired in 1984. Aleksandra loved spending time with her family. She loved to cook. She was always experimenting in the kitchen. When she wasn't in the kitchen, she'd be watching cooking shows like Julia Childs. Aleksandra also enjoyed watching a god movie. She loved dramas, suspense, and action movies. Her son Robert would bring over DVD's and dessert and she would prepare a great dinner. Another joy was a visit from Ms. Yvonne Salcedo and her twin granddaughters, Jalin and Kayla. They would love to entertain Aleksandra and make her laugh. Before her move to the Blaire House in Tewksbury, she resided at the Brunswick House in Lawrence. It was her home for over 25 years. In that time she made many close friends. When the weather was nice, Aleksandra could be found in the garden of the Brunswick House either listening to her favorite talk shows, reading a good book, or having some great conversations with other residents. She was liked by everyone there and could be counted on whenever they needed assistance. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Members of Aleksandra's family include:
a son Robert W. Cashman of Andover, MA, and 2 granddaughters: Kristen Lea (Cashman) Collins of Boston and Robyn Lynn Cashman of Methuen.
She was also mother of the late John M. Cashman who passed away August 10, 1986. The family would also like to extend its gratitude to the staff at the Blaire House for taking such good care of Aleksandra. Thank you Theresa, Jenny, Ashley, Katie, and everyone else.
