WEARE, NH - Edwin J. "Ed" Campbell, 91, died Wednesday, March 21, at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Barbara May (Batchelder) Campbell, with whom he celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in January. He was born March 19, 1921 in Lynn, MA, a son of the late, Joseph and Mary (Fenton) Campbell. He was raised in Lynn before joining the Army where he served during WWII. He fought in the Normandy Invasion and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
He resided in Tewksbury for fifty one years before moving to Weare, NH. He retired from United Die in Danvers where he was a machinist for thirty years. He was a devoted family man. His grandchildren, home, and gardening were dear to his heart. He was an avid sports fan of all Boston teams. Maine and Lake George, NY were his favorite places to visit with his family.
Besides his wife, Barbara, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Barbara Outridge and Rob of Dracut, a son and daughter-in-law; Edwin Campbell and Jeanne (McDevitt) of Weare, NH, a sister and brother-in-law; Virginia McGill and Frank of Peabody, seven grandchildren; Kelly Lemieux of Taunton, Denise LeFebvre of Lowell, Tara Aviles of Lowell, Bryan Outridge of Dracut, Joseph Campbell of Hillsborough, NH, Bryanne Campbell of Concord, NH, Michael Campbell of Weare, NH, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
He was the brother of the late Dorothy Allen, Gloria Dupuis, and Frederick Campbell.
His Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 24, followed by a committal service at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury.
