Obituary

SPENCER: Theodore J. Miczek, 92, of Smithville Rd., died Wednesday, March 21 at his home following a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Sally C. (Zukas) Miczek, his son John T. Miczek and his wife Kim of Leicester and his daughter Linda M. Fuchs and her husband Wolfram of Brimfield, five grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Charles W. Miczek in 1984.

Ted was a computer operator at Warren Pumps in Warren for many years, retiring in 1985. Previously, he was a mail handler at the Spencer Post Office.

Born in Webster, he was the son of John and Tekla (Slota) Miczek and later graduated from Bartlett High School and the New England School of Accounting. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Marine Corps and fought with the 9th. Marine Division on Bougainvilla, Guam and Iwo Jima where he was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion and Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 24 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St. Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours are Friday, March 23 from 5 to 7p.m.
