Obituary

D.J. “Jack” Freeman, 102, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at the Osceola Nursing Home, Ocilla, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 11, 2004, at Holt Baptist Church, Irwin County with Rev. L.A. Pate, Rev. David Biggers and Rev. John Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Freeman was born March 8, 1902, in Wilkes County, Georgia to the late George Washington and Susan House Freeman. His wife, Estelle Mobley Freeman also preceded him in death. He lived in Irwin County for ninety-three years and was a farmer. Mr. Freeman was an active member and Deacon Emeritus with more than forty years of service at Holt Baptist Church.

Mr. Freeman is survived by a step-son and step daughter-in-law: Orman and Wilma Paulk, Ocilla; two grandchildren: Ronald Paulk, Waycross and Linda Shiver, Moultrie; four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; one step-daughter-in-law, Nellie Paulk, Moultrie and several nieces and nephews.
