Obituary

Edward Robert Selph, 85, of Tifton died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Dan Eidson will officiate with burial to follow in Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Mark Gibbons, Kyle Selph, Eric Webb, Rusty Smith, Leon Walters and Tate Anderson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John “Jay-Bo” McKinnon, Jr., Gary Guess, Jim Herndon, Carl Goodwin, Tommy Johnson and Eric Goodwin. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Selph was born on November 8, 1926 in Tifton and was the son of Bolan Selph and Sally Arrington Selph, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Howard Selph. He was retired from the Civil Service and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Tifton. He also served in the United States Army in Germany during World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Tifton.

Mr. Selph is survived by his wife, Zona Bell Daniels Selph of Tifton; four step-daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Jim Herndon of Sylvester, Theresa and Gary Guess of Tifton, June and Jay-Bo McKinnon of Tifton and Ann and Darrel Goodwin of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Jerri Selph of Tifton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Gene Hancock of Tifton and Barbara and Chuck Haynes of Cartersville; six grandchildren, Monica Williams and her husband Dewayne, Darby Anderson and her husband Tate, Laci-Jae McKinnon, John Alec McKinnon, III, Eric Goodwin and Alyssa Goodwin; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton Norman and Charlee Norman.
