WORCESTER-William J. Humphrey, Jr., 61, of 145 Cambridge Street, died Friday, April 9th in his home after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Joyce M. (Aubin) Humphrey, 3 sons, William E. Humphrey of Leicester, Mark J. and his wife Elesa Humphrey and Jeffrey T. and his wife Beth, all of Worcester, 2 daughters Pamela J. Humphrey of Wareham and Jennifer M. Humphrey of Worcester, a brother Thomas F. and his wife Carol Humphrey of Waterville Valley, NH, a sister Donna wife of Gerald Shilale of Orlando, FL and 8 grandchildren, Lily, Paige, Justin and Collin Humphrey, Ashley and Caitlyn Nolette, Malia Rapozo and Shauna Urbanowski, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son Michael W. Humphrey in 1971 and a sister Patricia Hebert in 1988.
He was born in Worcester the son of William J. Sr. and Mary E. (Sullivan) Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was a graduate of South High School, and served 6 years in the Army National Guard. He retired in January from LaVigne Incorporated where he had been a pressman for 35 years. Mr. Humphrey was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and the Worcester Area Umpires Association; he had been an umpire for 19 years and was an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The funeral is Tuesday, April 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial is in St. John’s Cemetery.
