Audrey G. Belle
Retired Secretary to the Principal of Winchester and Tewksbury High Schools
LACONIA, NH: Audrey G. (Cook) (Graustein) Belle, age 91, of Tewksbury, MA , passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur W. Graustein, who passed away on July 2, 1979, and the late Paul J. Belle, who passed away January 10, 2000.
Born in Boston on May 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Chester A. Cook and the late Mary L. (Slater) Cook.
Audrey was raised in Reading, MA. She graduated from Reading High School.
Prior to her retirement she was employed as Secretary to the Principal of Winchester (MA) High School, where she worked for nearly 20 years. Prior to that, she served in the same capacity at Tewksbury Memorial High School.
Audrey was a member of Immanuel Church in Chelmsford, MA.
She enjoyed family, travel and summers at the ocean at Ipswich, MA.
Audrey is survived by one son, Alan W. Graustein and his wife Joan of Sanbornton, NH; a daughter, Joyce A. Sargent and her husband, Theron of Manchester, NH. She was pre-deceased by her oldest son, Arthur W. Graustein, Jr. and her stepson, Thomas Belle.
Audrey is survived by 10 grandchildren: Karen Morey, S. Deerfield, MA, Arthur Graustein III, Fitchburg, MA, Carolyn Flagg, Gardner, MA, Thomas Graustein, Sterling, MA, Rhonda Sargent, Penacook, NH, Michael Sargent, Weare, NH, Gregory Sargent, Boston, MA, Charlene Marcoux, Manchester, NH,
Kurt Graustein, Rocklin, NH, and Karl Graustein, Saint Simons Island, GA.
She thoroughly enjoyed watching the lives of her 15 great grandchildren: Sarah Morey, Fitchburg, MA, Kyra Graustein, Fitchburg, MA, Nicholas Scott & Matthew Flagg, Gardner, MA, Kelsey Sargent, Penacook, NH, Alyssa & Joshua Sargent, Weare, NH, Samantha & Bradley Huard & Alexandra Marcoux, Manchester, NH, Megan & Ian Graustein of Rocklin, CA and Anna, Sarah & Timothy Graustein of Saint Simons Island, GA.
In addition Audrey had numerous nieces and nephews.
Audrey is survived by her sister, Beryl Barnes of Rockport, MA. Her older brother, the late Chester A. Cook, Jr. resided on Cape Cod.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 20, from 6-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Immanuel Church, 301 Boston Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
