Edna M. (Lynam) Severino, 85, of New bedford went home to the Lord on March 16, 2012 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late John Beardsworth and Dwight "Whitey" Serevino.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Norwood) Lynam, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Severino was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
She was formerly employed by First national Bank and BayBank until her retirement.
Mrs. Severino was a caring mother and grandmother who loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was also known as Nana, Great Nana and Silver Fox. She enjoyed reading, swimming, gardening, shopping, trips to Newport and the company of her dog Abby.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Lee and the staff at Hudner Oncology and the staff at Taber Street Nursing Home, for their outstanding care and love for Edna, especially Jonathan.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Jean Brown and her husband Rick of Dartmouth and Joyce Sopel of Charlotte, NC; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Brown of New Bedford, Jeffrey Sopel and his wife Leigh of Ft. Mill, SC, Richard John Brown, II and his wife Molly, Michael Sopel and his wife Ingrid and Jennifer Sopel, all of Charlotte, NC; 9 great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Donna Desmond of East Bridgewater; 3 step-grandchildren, Shawn Desmond and Heather O'Neill, both of Rockland, and Lindsey Desmond of Brockton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Dorothy Braley and George Lynam.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 20th at 10 AM at Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 19th from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
