Beverly Ann Maki, 64, died at home in Dover, TN on March 17, 2012 following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Beverly was born 14 November, 1947 in Lubbock, TX, the daughter of Dick and LaVerne Phelps. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Bill Maki, Dover, TN; sisters, Barbara (Arthur) Cook, SC; Debbie (Randy) Block, AZ; and a brother, Tom (Wanda) Phelps, SC.
Beverly chose to be cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1 PM at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home in Clarksville. The Reverend Phoebe Jowers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 11 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Beverly enjoyed a rewarding career as a Safety Manager for the Department of Defense. She was an artist and accident investigator at Fort Campbell, KY, where she deployed with the 101st Airborne Division. She was Safety Manager at the La Maddalena Naval Station Sardinia, Italy and then with the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. Beverly was dedicated to her work and received numerous awards and recognition for exceptional performance throughout her career. Beverly and Bill owned Action Laser Products, Inc. on Fort Campbell Blvd.
Beverly loved sailing, snow skiing and traveling. She and Bill were members of the Nashville Ski Club, owned several boats and traveled extensively. Beverly's greatest love was art. She received her BFA at Florida State University and was an accomplished artist and sculptor. Beverly was a great cook and will be remembered for the many fish fries and BBQs on the lake that were attended by friends from far and wide.
