Robert J. McMorrow of West Roxbury passed away March 16, 2012. He was 84 years old.
Robert was born in West Roxbury on August 14, 1927. He was a graduate of English High School in Boston. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1956 Robert married Helene (Noonan) and they stayed in West Roxbury to raise their family. Robert and Helene shared 45 years of marriage until Helene’s death in 2001.
Robert was an avid fan of Boston College sports teams, and he loved spending time at Green Harbor. He worked for many years for Jordan Marsh Co. in Boston, as well as for Child World in Dedham. Most recently, Robert worked for 16 years bagging groceries at Roche Bros. Supermarket in West Roxbury, retiring in 2010.
Robert was the loving father of Helene Lanphere of Quincy, June McMorrow and her husband Burnie Lancaster of Westford and Robert J. McMorrow Jr. and his wife Mary of Quincy. Beloved grandfather of Bridget and Glenn Lanphere and Aidan, Garrett, Carly, Allison, and Malcolm McMorrow. Dear brother of the late William, David and Eugene. Brother-in-law of Patricia McMorrow of Needham. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Robert's Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Theresa of Avila Church March 19, 2012. He was laid to rest with his beloved wife Helene at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
