Obituary

James A. Budney, 51, of Oakham died Wednesday, March 14th at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence after a courageous and long battle with cancer. He leaves the love of his life, his sweetie, Mary (DiMarco) Seymour and her son, Matthew Seymour; his mother, Ruth E. (Bigwood) Budney of Holden; a brother, Christopher B. Budney and his wife, Michelle of Webster; three sisters, Dianne M. Budney and her husband, John Kowalchuk III of Sanbornton, NH, Linda L. Poole and her husband, Robert of Schnecksville, PA and Catherine A. Friedman and her husband, Philip of Paxton; a sister in law, Dianne Budney of Leicester; his nieces and nephews, Brian and Kevin Budney, Christan, Lauren, Ashlyn and Olivia Budney, and Alyssa and Tyler Friedman; aunts, uncles, cousins and his dog, Thors Hammer. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen E. Budney and a sister, Margaret M. Budney-Meservey.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Theodore E. Budney. Mr. Budney worked at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School where he was an IT Technician until 2008, retiring due to disability. James enjoyed watching the Patriots and loved the outdoors, especially fishing.
His memorial service will be on Saturday, March 17th at 2:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, March 16th from 4:00 until 6:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to UMMF Cancer Care, UMASS Medical Development Office, P.O.
