Rosalie Ciummei, 76

Rosalie (Brown) Ciummei,76, of Norton, passed away unexpectedly at home, on Tuesday March 13, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph R. Ciummei who died on November 27, 1992.
Born in Charlestown, MA on November 29, 1935, she was a loving daughter of the late Samuel S. and Margaret (Scalli) Brown.
She grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston, was educated in Boston public schools and was a graduate of Practical Arts High School
She furthered her education and received her bachelors of science degree in education from Boston Bouve School of Tufts University, and her masters degree in education from the Woman’s College at the University of North Carolina.
Rosalie was a retired professor and chairman of the Physical Education Department at Wheaton College in Norton. She had been affiliated with Wheaton College for 34 years, prior to retiring in 1996, and had formerly taught at the Columbia School for Girls in Rochester, New York.
A resident of Norton for the past 50 years, she had formerly made her home in Rochester, NY. Rosalie enjoyed exercising at Curves in Mansfield. She loved opera and spending time with her cat “Willie”
She is survived by her devoted sister Judith S. Meaney and her husband John R. Meaney of Malden, and many dear extended family members and friends.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday March 17th from 1-3 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
Services will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 3:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Private burial will be held on Monday March 19th at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, Rosalie’s family has requested that donations in her memory may be made in honor of her late nephew Michael Scalli, to the Scleroderma Federation/ N.E.
