MARC H. BLANCHARD, a Hingham resident for the past 50 years, died on Friday March 9th, 2012 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Marc was born, raised and educated in New Bedford. He then served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Marc was a hair stylist by profession and owned and operated Marc's House of Beauty in Norwell for many years before becoming associated with Joanna's Beauty Salon in Hingham Center. He was a well known vocalist who sang with Bill Manning's Orchestra and was a longtime cantor and soloist at St. Paul's Church in Hingham.
He leaves his loving wife Claire A. (Marcotte) Blanchard; and his son Neal M. Blanchard and his wife Anne of Hingham. Brother of Therese DuBois and her husband Thomas of Englewood, FL and Ronald Blanchard and his wife Barbara of Dennisport. Grandfather of James Amirault and his wife Kristen of Marshfield, Christopher Amirault of Hingham and William Amirault and his wife Candace of Hollywood, FL. Great grandfather of Kaileen and Ryan Amirault of Marshfield.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17th at 11 AM at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham, MA 02043. Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham prior to the mass from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marc's memory may be made to St. Paul's Church. The interment is private.
