Reginald M. Coles, 90, of Oceanside CA, died at midnight on Mon Apr 5, 2004 at his home. Born Sept 25, 1913 in Boston, he was the son of the late Matthew and Laura (Langhorne) Coles. A resident of Oceanside for the past 11 years, Mr. Coles had lived in the Boston area his entire life prior. An alumnus of Boston Univ., where he earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Mr. Coles held several positions in civil service in MA before retiring from the Security and Exchange Commission in 1984. Mr. Coles served in both the U.S. Army and Navy during WW II. He was a proud Eagle Scout and a member of the United Methodist Church in Vista CA. Mr. Coles is survived, and will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Muriel (Press) Coles of Oceanside; his daughter Cynthia (Coles) Buckley of Oceanside; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law: Lori and Pascal Lui and Lisa and William Mitchell all of Los Angeles. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren Matthew and Tyler Lui and Livia Mitchell. Interment services with Military Honors will be held on Sat Apr 10 at 2 PM at Newton Cemetery 791 Walnut St. Newton Centre. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Mr. Coles memory to Elizabeth Hospice 150 W. Crest St. Escondido, CA 92025.
