Obituary

Whitman – Marie T. (Browne) Sullivan 86 a longtime resident of Whitman, died Thursday March 8 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late J. Leo Sullivan.

Born and raised in the Dorchester section of Boston she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Roseann (Gilbride) Browne and a graduate of Jeremiah Burke High School.

Marie had been a resident of Whitman, where she raised her four children, for over 52 years and had been a longtime communicant of the Holy Ghost Church.

She enjoyed playing Bingo locally and looked forward to her trips to Foxwoods, but her greatest joy came from the time spent with her children and her three granddaughters with whom she took great pride.

She is survived by her loving children Roseann Sullivan of London, England, Mary Millett and her husband Rick of Whitman, Patrick Sullivan and his wife Joanne of Reading, and Timothy Sullivan of Abington, and her brother James Browne and his wife Betty of Milton. She is also survived by her granddaughters who she adored Emily Millett of Whitman and Julia and Brenna Sullivan of Reading as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Panetta.

Her services will be held Monday March 12 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Sunday March 11 from 2-6 PM.
