VESTAL, N.Y. -- Elizabeth C. (Parsons) Smith of Vestal died at home Sunday, April 4, 2004. She was the widow of Elmer J. Smith.
Born and raised in New Bedford, Mass., the daughter of the late Edith and Walter Parsons, she lived in Dartmouth, Mass., for many years until she returned to New Bedford.
Mrs. Smith was an active member of 19 organizations. She followed in the steps of her mother in leadership positions in the New Bedford Daughters of the American Revolution; she also was former state treasurer of the DAR.
She attended Radcliffe College and brought her expertise to many organizations that helped others.
She was admired not only for her many contributions but also for her pleasant and kind manner. She always had a smile. Her family and friends will miss this resource person and family matriarch.
Survivors include two daughters, Eleanor Smith of Vestal and Nancy Bunse of Victorville, Calif.; a son, Randall Smith of Mattapoisett, Mass.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours at the WILSON CHAPEL, 479 County St. at the corner of Elm St. New Bedford, Ma. on Friday April 9, 2004 from 9-11 A.M. with a service at 11 o'clock.
Burial in So. Dartmouth Cemetery is private.
