Walter A. “Duke” Maly, 86 of Granite St., passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 in U.Mass Hospital, University Campus,Worcester.
His wife of 46 years, Rita T. (Hanc) Maly died in 1995.
Duke leaves two daughters; Patricia A. wife of Paul R. Richard, and Mary Ann wife of Timothy Weaver both of Webster.
Three grandsons; Michael Richard, Seean and Samuel Weaver, and a great grand-daughter; Peyton.
He also leaves two brothers; Francis Maly of Illinois and Emil Maly of Southbridge, a sister ;Josephine Bryze of FLA.
He was predeceased by a brother; Edward Maly of Southbridge.
Duke was born in Southbridge a son of Peter and Helen (Kupiec) Maly and has lived in Webster most of his life.
He was a WWII Navy veteran.
Duke worked for the Webster Times and later the Worcester Telegram & Gazette as a press man for over 35 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Basilica, the Friends of St. Joseph’s School and was active on the annual Church Festivals. He loved driving down to the Lake .
The Funeral will be Monday, March 12, 2012 with a Mass at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Burial with Military Honors provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at the Robert J.Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St.
