Obituary

Alice E. (Makitalo) Salmonson of Tatnuck Park passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Her husband of 69 years David R. Salmonson, died last March. She is survived by two sons, Richard D. Salmonson of Newbury and Robert and his wife Denise Salmonson of Auburn; one sister Helen Leonard; two grandchildren, Richard Salmonson Brett Campbell and her husband Matthew Campbell; two great grandsons, Hayden Salmonson and Hunter Campbell; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and two sisters, George Makitalo, Anne Kusisto, Eva Duane, and a neice Beverly Kusisto.

Alice was born in Worcester, daughter of Fanny W. (Jokinen) and George K. Makitalo. She attended schools in Leicester and Worcester. She was a member of the Greendale YMCA and its Nereids Swim Club, Zion Lutheran Church and its Fellowship Group, and the Finnish Heritage Society in Rutland.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tatnuck Park, Holy Trinity Hospice, Bancroft Private Care, and Care With A Heart for their care and compassion.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street on Thursday, March 8, from 5-7 pm. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 9 at 10:00 am in Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave. Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester MA 01606.
