
George J. Pinieri, 96

George J. Pinieri, 96, of Mansfield, formerly of the South End of Boston, passed away on Monday March 5, 2012 at the Golden Living Center-Garden Place in Attleboro.
Born in Boston, MA on October 25, 1915, he was a dear son of the late Rosario and Emily E. (Rogers) Pinieri.
George grew up in the North End of Boston and attended Boston schools. He lived most of his life in the South End of Boston and for the past 14 years had made his home in Mansfield.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Pinieri had been employed for over 17 years in the maintenance department at Franklin Institute in Boston. He had previously worked for the Land-O-Lakes Corporation in the shipping department and as a weaver at Maverick Mills.
Since living in Mansfield, George was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church in Boston.
Mr. Pinieri was an active member of the Mansfield Council on Aging where he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and working with the councils chime group. He was also a former daily attendant at the former Hillside Adult Day Care Center in Mansfield.
He is survived by his dear friends, the D’Onofrio Family of Mansfield, who cared for George for over 60 years.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday March 9th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Mt. Benedict Cemetery in Boston.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday March 8th from 3-5 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
