Obituary

Angelo Martinez otherwise known as “Papo" passed away after a long battle for his life on Saturday, March 3, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Angelo was born in Brooklyn New York on August 25, 1960, and raised in the South Bronx. Papo from the early part of his life was a skilled Carpenter, who loved to use his hands for working and recreational purposes. While spending countless hours at the local Bronx parks, he enjoyed playing handball with his many friends, whom which he met as he participated in many other community activities. Angelo was known for his giving and protective traits, which were only understood by the people who loved him. Papo appreciated the beautiful things in life, and wanted to share them with the one’s he loved, especially his family. Even though he was raised in the Bronx, Papo spent a great portion of his life time in Worcester, MA, where he laid a new foundation down for himself. Angelo continued to expand his family, and built new long lasting friendships that lasted until the end of his journey.

Angelo Martinez is survived by his Mother Isabella Guzman-Martinez, Father Angel (Blanco) Martinez (decease). Papo also leaves behind two sons and two daughters Melissa Martinez-Roberts of New York, Angelo Martinez, Jr., of Worcester, Antonio Martinez of Shrewsbury, and Nina Flaminio of Worcester. Angelo also leaves his brother Louis Martinez of Manchester, NH; his two sisters Sayda Martinez of Shrewsbury, and Anna Martinez of Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren Carlos, Anthony, and Elijah Martinez; two brother-in-laws, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street Tuesday, March 6, from 7-9 pm. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 7, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Any donations willing to be made can be given to the immediate family.
