Caterina Moccia, a long-time Medford resident died peacefully on Saturday morning in the company of her loving family at the Courtyard Nursing Center. She was 99.
Born and raised in Avelino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Raffaele and the late Angela (Pesa) Indaco. In 1966 she came to the United States with her family and lived in Charlestown before settling in Medford. She worked, before her retirement at the Borden Candy Factory in Cambridge. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Caterina enjoyed the company of her family and friends.
The beloved wife of the late Michele Moccia, she leaves her children: Angelo Moccia and his wife Viola of Florence, Italy, Carmella Ricca and her husband Osvaldo of Medford, Vittorio Moccia and his wife Rosa of Medford, Umberto Moccia and his wife Janet of Everett, Maria Morgan and her husband Richard of Billerica as well as her stepchildren: Adelia Carbone, Salvatore and Michele Moccia all of Florence, Italy and the late Silvia Melchiono. Caterina is also lovingly survived by 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday from 4 thru 8PM and again Tuesday, March 6th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
