Obituary

Caddle, Helen O. age 96, passed away after a short illness on February 27, 2012. Born in South Boston, she was a lifelong resident of the South Shore including Quincy and Carver. Like many of her generation, she was a war bride and resided with her husband at Fort Benning, Georgia, prior to WWII. Her husband served in the Yankee Division and survived the Battle of the Bulge. She was one of the first “Kelly Girls” in Boston. Her last work position was at Glad Tidings Church in Quincy. Mrs. Caddle was an avid reader and friend to all she met. She lived on her own in Hingham until her illness.

Mrs. Caddle is survived by her two sons, Scott Whitsett of Cohoes, New York and John Kenneth Whitsett of Saint Augustine, Florida, as well as her very close nephew Stanley Kroll Jr. of Hingham, and her niece Dianne Kroll of Aloha, Oregon. Great aunt of Katy Kroll of Forest Hills, New York. Helen is also survived by 5 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 8:30 AM-9:30AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Mrs. Caddle will be laid to rest with her late husband, Lt. Colonel George H. Caddle, at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to Hingham Senior Center, 224 Central St., Hingham, MA 02043.
