New Bedford - Jesuina daFonte, age 91 years, who died Sunday, February 26, 2012 peacefully at Sacred Heart Home. She was the beloved wife of Tome daFonte formerly of New Bedford. Mrs. daFonte was the loved mother of Maria DaFonte, John DaFonte, husband of Gail and Lidia Larguinho, wife of Antonio all of New Bedford and Manuel DaFonte, husband of Fatima of Taunton. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs.daFonte was a daughter of the late Rosa (Sapa) and Antonio Garcia. She was born in Pico, Acores, Portugal and has lived here since 1961. She was employed as a stitcher by various local dress factories.
Mrs. daFonte’s funeral will be Saturday, at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 8:45 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 6 – 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
