CHICOPEE – Doris C. (Marcil) Chmura, 83, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Saturday, February 11, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at her son and daughter-in-law Ken and Kim’s home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers from Hospice Life Care in Holyoke. She was born in Chicopee on May 17, 1928, a beloved daughter of the late Victor and Florence (Mayo) Marcil. She was raised in Chicopee and later lived in Indian Orchard and Ludlow for several years before settling in the Aldenville section of Chicopee in 1974. She had previously been employed at the former F. W. Sickles Company in Chicopee and had last worked at the former Springfield Wire Company. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. During her quiet time, Doris enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends and especially enjoyed her Friday and Sunday card games with her nieces. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend of 48 years, Stephen P. Chmura who was Called Home on July 18, 1996; her loving sons, Paul S. Chmura who was Called Home on February 5, 2005 and David V. Chmura who was Called Home on September 17, 2007; and her loving daughter-in-law, Alda Chmura who was Called Home in 2011. She leaves: her loving son and daughter-in-law who welcomed her into their home and cared for her so lovingly during her journey home, Kenneth F. Chmura and his wife, Kim of Chicopee; her loving daughter-in-law, Donna Chmura of Chicopee; her six cherished grandchildren, Brett Floury and his wife, Theresa, Amy Wajda and her husband, Gary, Shannon Chmura and her companion, Doug, Lindsey Chmura, Stephanie Chmura and her fiancé, Roger and Zachary Chmura; her seven cherished great-grandchildren, Carl Floury, Jordan Chmura, Haylee Wajda, Chloe Wajda, Norah Walsh, Madison Riley and Braden Chmura; her dear sister-in-law, Laurette Marcil of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews and nieces, Besides her parents, husband, sons and daughter-in-law, she was also predeceased by her dear brother and sisters, Raymond Marcil, Ruth Mercier, Rita Fiore, Pearl Neveu and Sylvia Marcil. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Rose Chapel on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
