Marie A. Haesaert

CHICOPEE – Marie A. (Tessier) Haesaert, 84, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 3, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at Country Estates of Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on August 5, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Laurier and Adrienne (Chartier) Tessier. She was raised in Aldenville, graduated from Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School and Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. Marie was employed for over 20 years at the former Acme Chain Company, which is now U.S. Tsubaki, in Holyoke and retired around 1988. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was a longtime volunteer at the Chicopee Senior Center and a senior companion for the Valley Opportunity Council. During her quiet time she enjoyed reading, embroidering, knitting, needlepoint and crocheting. She was a devoted woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, George P. Haesaert, who was Called Home on April 29, 1994. They were married on October 4, 1952 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church and were blessed with over 42 years of happiness together. She leaves: her loving children, George L. Haesaert and his wife, Mary and David P. Haesaert and his wife, Charlene, all of Chicopee, Rosemarie B. Marks and her husband, Jeffrey, of Halifax, MA, Daniel L. Haesaert and his wife, Carol, of Springfield and Michael R. Haesaert of Jacksonville, NC; her 14 cherished grandchildren; her eight cherished great-grandchildren; her dear brother, Paul Tessier and his wife, Loretta, of Westfield; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her dear brother, George Tessier and his wife, Theresa. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, February 7, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:15 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Rose Chapel on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
