Virginia Dolan, 87, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at her home.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Saint Williams Catholic Church in Fitzgerald with Father Ted Johnson officiating.
Mrs. Dolan was born December 12, 1916, in Decatur, Illinois to the late Earl and Ada Vinson Goodrich. Her husband, Richard E. Dolan also preceded her in death. She was a retired Registered Nurse, graduating from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond Du Lac, WI, where she worked for ten years in the hospital operating room. She also worked for ten years at the V.A. Hospital in Bedford, MA, ten years as the head public health nurse in Wolfeboro, NH and ten years at Ashburn Convalescent Care in Ashburn, GA. She was a member of Saint Williams Catholic Church, Fitzgerald. Mrs. Dolan was an avid bird watcher; she enjoyed camping, hiking, mountain climbing, and traveling. She was always willing to help others.
Mrs. Dolan is survived by her four children: Richard E. Dolan, Jr., Maynard, MA, Sandra Wise, Ocilla, Mary Conlon, Pepperell, MA and Robert Dolan, Sandwich, NH; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Mary Dolan, Sandwich, NH
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a favorite childrens charity.
