Obituary

WORCESTER-Robert R. Spitaels, 73, of 29 Boyden Street, died Sunday, April 4th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 49 years Ann T. (Larava) Spitaels, 2 sons Michael R. and his wife Karen, and their children Allison, Kaylee, Victoria and Juliette Spitaels of West Newton, James S. and his wife Maria and their son Christopher Spitaels of Worcester, 2 daughters Navy Captain Christine M. wife of Robert H. Hunter and their daughter Jennifer of Honolulu, Hawaii and Elaina L. wife of Joshua G. Genser, and their children Joseph and Janet of Richamond, CA, a sister Helen Donahue of Worcester.

He was born in Boston the son of Cyriel and Madeline Spitaels. Mr. Spitaels was a graduate of South High, Fitchburg State College and received his Master’s Degree from Worcester State College. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the Army. Mr. Spitaels taught Industrial Arts for the Worcester Public Schools, retiring from Forest Grove Junior High School. He was a member and served on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Industrial Education Association and was a long time volunteer at the Worcester Boy’s Club. Always helping others, Bob strongly believed there was only one way to do any job, the right way or not at all.

The funeral is Wednesday, April 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 6th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
