Obituary

Mr. Philip J. Carpenito, age 83, a lifelong resident of Medford passed away peacefully February 24th, at the Winchester Hospital following a lengthy period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Oliva) Carpenito together sharing 55 years of marriage. Born in Medford he was one if six sons of the late John and Rose Carpenito.

Mr. Carpenito worked for more than fifty years along side with his brothers in the fruit and produce business. Together they owned and operated the Big C Fruit Bowl formerly of Mystic Ave in Medford and also the Five C's Wholesale Fruit Co.

Mr. Carpenito proudly and honorably served as Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a former member of V.F.W. post 1012 of Medford. He was a lover of history and enjoyed listening to music, especially music from the Big Band era. He also enjoyed playing golf and was an avid New England sports fan.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children; Linda Raymond and her husband Jonathan of Acton, Debbie Carpenito of Concord, Philip Carpenito Jr. and his wife Jennifer of New York. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, Anthony Carpenito of Methuen and Edward Carpenito of Stoneham. He is predeceased by his brothers, George, Patrick and John Carpenito.

Family and friends will gather at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Tuesday, February 28th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Memorial contributions may be made in Philip's memory to the Schepens Eye Institute, 20 Staniford St., Boston, MA 02114.
