Obituary

Worcester- Gilbert F. Hutchins, 80, of Worcester, died Saturday, April 3, in Christopher House.

He leaves his companion of 24 years, Mary C. (MacInnis) Bernard, with whom he lived. He also leaves many close friends. He was born in Springfield, Vermont, son of Frank and Muriel (St. Croix) Hutchins, and lived here many years.

Mr. Hutchins was a constable for the City of Worcester and the Worcester County Sheriffs Dept. for many years, serving criminal and civil papers. He also worked in security for 25 years. He was a United States Special Process Server and investigator and was bonded to carry money. He was a body guard for several famous people.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He served in the Battle of Germany, where he earned a Bronze Star. He was a captain of the Civil Air Patrol.

He was a member of American Legion Post 444 and was a Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Hutchins enjoyed fishing and gardening.

The funeral and burial are private. There are no calling hours. DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., is directing arrangements.
