Obituary

CHICOPEE – Dorothy A. (Barre) Ciosek, 85, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 12, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life from Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home, in the Fairview section of Chicopee, on March 10, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late William J. and Eva (Provost) Barre. She was raised in Fairview, graduated from Chicopee High School and moved to Waldwick, New Jersey in 1962, where she lived until moving back to Fairview in 1996. While in New Jersey, she was employed as a manager at the General Packaging Company. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she served her parish as a Eucharistic Minister for the church and for area nursing homes and hospitals. She was also a member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild, a longtime volunteer at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen and during her leisure time enjoyed quilting. She was a quiet woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents and 10 siblings, she was predeceased by her devoted husband and best friend of 56 years, Peter F. Ciosek, who was Called Home on January 3, 2002. She leaves: her loving children, Karen A. Stocksett and her husband, Robert Faust, of Saint Clair Shores, MI, Michael P. Ciosek and his companion, Ruth Perras Hein, of Rockaway, NJ, and Christine M. Duryea and her husband, Jack, of Rockingham, VT; her three cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Jamie Favoccia, Christopher Duryea and his wife, Carrie, and Jason Duryea and his wife, Amy; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Reese Favoccia, Andrew Duryea, Jacob Duryea, Simon Duryea, Samuel Duryea and Caleb Duryea; her loving twin sister, Doris Sabourin, of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen, 170 Pendexter Avenue, Chicopee, MA 01013.
